Get Out of Your Own Way: Inspired Feb 10, 2026

This Inspired Message is intended to help:

– Recognize if and how you may be in your own way

– Methods to correct the situation

– Be able to feel at Peace with decisions

This Morning, I couldn’t sleep.

I kept churning over some thoughts and eventually was forced to get up

and write these thoughts down or I would never sleep.

Side note, If you are someone interested in numbers as I am, I got dressed and to the table to write at exactly 4:44 am.

There are a few different pathways to being stuck.

– Are you an over thinker?

– Are you afraid (or nervous) of making mistakes?

– Are you afraid (or nervous) of change?

– Are you over reliant on Prayer alone?

Overthinking:

This is a tough one and I can be guilty of this one.

You have to be honest with yourself and figure out why you are overthinking.

Is it fear of making a mistake?

Is it just not knowing what the right course of action is?

Is there a conflict between what you know is right, but it might hurt someone else’s feelings, or your own?

I hope to outline some things that may help with this.

First step is to recognize God’s Grace is bigger than anything you have done.

Now if God can give you Grace, allow yourself Grace to make mistakes.

Life is hard and messy.

See the Meme that I love below on our plan vs God’s plan from JAMES 1:2-4

The next step is to recognize that ALL decisions

boil down to a driving factor that can be either based in Love or Fear.

As Zach Williams tells us “Fear is a Liar”

(Fear based emotions include all the negative energy ones: anger, hate, jealousy, insecurity…)

Now please watch this excellent YouTube video:

Teaching of Paul in the Bible that was way ahead of “Modern Psychology and Clinical Protocol”

Personal Story on Overthinking:

My Dad was a massive overthinker

His was driven by the fear of making a mistake.

He raced sailboats and I crewed on his boat and some others.

He studied and practiced relentlessly.

He was definitely prepared to make tactical decisions

However, in a race, he would mutter out loud things like:

“The wind is better over there.  We really should be8 over there.”

This would carry on for long stretches of time.

Sailboat racing is SLOW.

He would suffer from paralysis by analysis.

I’d get frustrated and say lets just go (We’d be typically in 8th out of 12 boats)

He’d be like “mmmm, I’m worried that you guys don’t have the expertise to do it flawlessly and we might lose time overall.

WE ARE IN 8th PLACE!

He never got over this – sad.

God Designed us to be adaptive learners

We learn best by making mistakes

Do the best you can in a positive loving energy

Give yourself Grace

I prepared a flow chart below as a method to work through this.

I pray it helps you or someone you love.

Notice the Flow Chart doesn’t end until you take an Action Step

It is so important to take a timely action.

Here are some quotes on this:
“The Secret of getting ahead is getting started” – Mark Twain

“The Journey of a thousand miles begins with one step” – Lao Tzu

“Every adventure requires a first step” – Lewis Caroll

Don’t wait for Perfect

Have No Fear

God is in you

Below was the Bible quote of the day, I thought it was fitting:

Prayer warriors need to be careful too.

Prayer is excellent and helps us get in loving energy and communicate with God in you.

Be careful not to become over reliant on prayer alone

and waiting on your perfect prayer.

Do you pray often and know exactly what you want?

Do you know exactly what conditions should be present?

If this is close to you and you feel stuck:

Recommendations are:

  • Evaluate all of your wants and conditions
  • Consider that life is messy on Earth
  • Your perfect may never be presented to you from day 1
  • I love the line from the song Nobody by Casting Crowns     (link on my homepage)
  • “You took 12 outsiders nobody would have Chosen                                   And you Changed the world”
  • Jesus didn’t start with perfect people nor perfect conditions.
  • Maybe you shouldn’t expect to either

Did you hear the Story about the Pastor stuck in a Flood?

A Pastor was stuck on his rooftop in a flood.

He Prayed to God for help.

A man came by in a boat and said: “I can save you, hop in”

Pastor said: “No.  It’s ok, I’m praying to God and he will save me.  I have Faith”

Then a Policeman offered to help.

Pastor refused again, continuing to Pray.

A Fireman offered to save him.

Pastor still refused, full of Faith.

Then the flood consumed him and he drowned.

The Pastor went to Heaven and said to God:

“I had Faith in you, why didn’t you save me?”

God Replied:  “I sent you a boat, a Policeman and a Fireman, what more do you expect?”

Don’t miss what may be meant for you waiting for perfect

My hope for you is that this helped in some way

and you will allow yourself the

GRACE to:

Make mistakes with no regrets

Do your best, even if it doesn’t work out

Take Risks that feel right

Don’t miss out waiting for Perfect!

Simplify and be Joyful

Enjoy this beautiful song from Cody Johnson

Pay attention to the message

God Bless You!

Your post made me think about the story of the Phoenix and the lesson it teaches us about appreciating the true changes we sometimes choose to experience. The Phoenix is a mythical creature of ancient (Egyptian/Greek) origin that symbolizes transformation, resilience, and rebirth after adversity. According to legend, it lived for centuries, consumed by flames in a fragrant nest, and rose again from its own ashes, representing overcoming adversity and the eternal cycle of change.
