What if: Forgiveness is more about you?

If you’re heart is so hard that you can’t forgive others,
is it reasonable for you to expect God to forgive you?
MATTHEW 6:14
For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you:
MARK 11:26
But if ye do not forgive, neither will your Father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses.
Control and Expectations:
You can’t control other people, Control is an illusion.
The sooner we all get this, the happier we will all be.
If you try, it may appear to work for a season but the tighter you squeeze the more it slips away.
Treat every relationship as if it were water in your hands.
Support it with a firm foundation.
However, if you squeeze, it will all slip through your fingers.
Empathy is needed when it seems difficult:
Consider how the other person is feeling (Even if you don’t like them).
Everyone has damage and tend to see things through the filter of their past (Good or Bad).
Someone might act in a way that you find disrespectful, rude or even mean.
It may or may not even be about you.
And even if it is directly about you with bad intentions,
negative reactions hurt you more than you may realize.
It affects your mood with others and now you may be unintentionally making people that care about you feel bad.
It is bad for your soul.
Think about how you felt the last time you were angry.
Did it feel good?
Did it make the other person a better person?
Did it solve anything?
Did it make things worse?
Did it cause new problems?
Forgiveness
So many people seem to confuse forgiveness with acceptance.
Forgiving someone does not make whatever they did right or even ok.
It doesn’t mean you are weaker than them.
It takes Strength to Forgive when it seems undeserved.
It is about you not holding on to negative feelings.
It is what is best for your soul!
Holding a Grudge is like Drinking Rat Poison and expecting the Rat to Die.
The other person may not even know you’re upset with them and you are only harming yourself.
They need to make a reckoning with God for their actions.
You are responsible for you only!
LUKE 11:4
And forgive us our sins; for we also forgive every one that is indebted to us.
And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil.
